Paneer Dosa

Paneer Dosa is a twist to the traditional masala dosa. Paneer is a commonly used Indian cheese in many dishes. This crispy dosa stuffed with Paneer masala could be a filling meal for the kids!!



Ingredients - Serves 4

  • Paneer - 200 gms (grated)
  • Finely chopped onion – ½ cup
  • Jeera – ½ tsp
  • Finely chopped green chillies – 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder – ½ tsp
  • Jeera powder – ½ tsp
  • Gram masala – ½ tsp
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
  • Kashmiri chilli powder – ½ tsp (This gives nice red colour to the dish)
  • Few strings of coriander leaves
  • Oil – 2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Dosa batter

Dosa Batter preparation:

Wash and soak raw rice and urad dhal in 4:1 ratio with 2 tsp of methi seeds. After 3-4 hours, grind into a smooth paste and add salt as required. Leave the batter overnight in a warm place. If you live in a colder weather, pre-heat the conventional oven for 10 minutes and leave the batter overnight in the oven. The batter will now be fermented and ready to use.



Method

  • Heat the pan with 2 tsp of oil
  • Add jeera, onion, green chillies and a pinch of salt (this salt absorbs moisture from the onion and helps onion to cook fast and evenly)
  • Fry onions till translucent and add coriander, jeera, garam masala, turmeric and kashmiri chilli powders
  • Fry for few minutes and add grated paneer, salt and chopped coriander leaves
  • Mix them well and keep it aside
  • Heat dosa tawa with 1 tsp of oil and pour a ladle full of batter on the tawa
  • Spread the batter evenly over the tawa using the ladle and add ½ tsp of oil
  • Cook for few minutes and flip it to the other side
  • Reverse again and spread 2 tblsp of paneer masala in the middle and fold the dosa
  • Just press the dosa gently with the ladle
  • Serve hot with coconut chutney or sambar
  • Cut it into half to make it interesting for the kids

  • Paneer intake reduces the development of insulin resistance syndrome
  • One paneer dosa = 90 calories approximately
