Spinach paratha

 Wheat flour mixed with spicy spinach to make a healthy paratha



Ingredients - Serves 4
  • Atta flour - 2 1/2 cups
  • Cooked spinach - 1 cup
  • Red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Oil or ghee - 2 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
Method
  • Blend cooked spinach, chilli powder, turmeric powder and cumin powder in a blender or a mixer into a smooth paste
  • Mix wheat flour, salt and grounded spinach together
  • Sprinkle little water to make a stiff dough

  • Cover and keep aside for 15-20 minutes.
  •  Divide the dough into golf ball size portions.
  •  Roll one portion into a smooth ball, dip into dry flour to prevent it from sticking 
  •  Roll dough out into a circle.
  •  Heat tava or skillet on medium heat and place paratha on it
  •  Wait until bubbles appear before flipping it over.
  •  Wait another 20-30 seconds, lightly smear oil or ghee on the top
  • Cook until brown spots appear on both sides
  • Serve hot with raita or side dish



Nutritional Information

  • Spinach is rich in calcium, folic acid, vitamin K and iron.
  • Spinach is also rich in vitamin C, fiber and carotenoids.
  • Per serving = 120 calories approximately
