Cooked bengal gram dhal seasoned with Indian spices
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Bengal gram dhal - 1 cup
- Grated coconut - 2 tbs
- Green chilies - 2 nos
- Curry leaves few
- Asafoetida pinch
- Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
- Oil - 1 tbsp
- Salt to taste
Method
- Pressure cook the bengal gram dhal for 2 to 3 whistles (it should be cooked but not mushy)
- Heat the pan with oil and add mustard seeds when it pops add curry leaves, asafoetida and chillies
- Add cooked dhal, salt and grated coconut
- Mix well and serve hot

- Bengal gram dhal is low in fat & cholesterol, high in dietary fiber and rich in protein
- Per serving = 150 calories approximately
