Rock Buns

Traditional British Rock buns, also called rock cakes, is easy to make and tastier than regular cakes - My daughter made this at her Food tech class at school and we all loved it !!!

Ingredients Yields - 12 Rock Buns
  • Butter - 100g
  • All purpose flour - 1 1/2 cups
  • Baking powder - 2 tsp
  • Ground mixed spice - 1/2 tsp (optional)
  • Brown sugar - 1/2 cup
  • Any dried fruits - 1/2 cup
  • Milk - 2 tbsp or more
  • Sift flour & baking powder into a bowl and rub in butter until it resembles breadcrumbs
  • Now add brown sugar and dried fruit
  • Add milk to make a stiff mixture that will allow the fork to stand upright(If the mixture is still dry add a tbsp of milk at a time until you get the required consistency)
  • Divide into 12 rough shapes and place on a greased baking tray
  • Bake it for 15 minutes at 400F until golden brown

  • Each rock buns = 170 calories approximately
