Fresh Homemade Guacamole

Homemade guacamole with crispy tortilla chips are superb for snacking. Guacamole is very easy to make with commonly available ingredients. This is one of my favourite dishes.

  • Avocado - 2 nos
  • Onion - 1 small
  • Tomato - 1 medium
  • Jalapeno pepper - 1 no
  • Lime juice - 2 tblsp
  • Cilantro - few
  • Salt to taste

Method
  • Cut the avocados lengthwise in half around the seed - Scoop out and throw away the seed and use a spoon to scoop the avocado into a bowl
  • Mash avocado using fork until smooth but bit chunky
  • Finely chop the onion, tomato (deseeded), cilantro and jalapeno pepper and add to the bowl
  • Mix everything together, add required salt & squeeze on some lime juice to prevent oxidisation and browning
  • Serve it with chips or pita bread

TIP: To determine if an avocado is ripe, give it a little squeeze. If it is soft it is ripe
