A hearty pea soup with simple Indian spices for a satisfying dinner. It is also a great way to include seasonal vegetables in our diet.

- Chopped onions - 1/2 cup
- Peas - 1 cup
- Grated ginger - 1 tblsp
- Bay leaf - 1 no
- Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
- Vegetable stock or water - 2 cups
- Salt and pepper for taste
- Oil - 1 tblsp
- Heat a pan with oil, add grated ginger and cumin seeds - saute for a minute
- Add onions, bay leaf and saute till translucent
- Add peas, required salt and stock
- Simmer it for 15 minutes with lid on
- Remove from the stove and allow it to cool (remove the bay leaf)
- Puree it in the blender
- Pour the puree in the pan and reheat it
- Add pepper and serve with hot bread sticks or croutons
- Green peas is loaded with Antioxidants and Anti-inflammatory nutrients
- Green peas lowers the risk of most inflammatory diseases, including heart disease, type 2 diabetes and arthritis.
- Consumption of Green peas along with other legumes decreases the risk of stomach cancer
