Ingredients - Yields 16 pieces
- Raw banana - 1
- Sambar powder - 1 tblsp
- Garam masala - 1/2 tsp
- Bread crumbs - 1/2 cup
- Plain flour - 2 tbsp
- Oil for deep frying
- Salt to taste
- Remove outer skin of the raw banana
- Cut them into 2 inch squares
- Boil 2 cups of water with little salt and turmeric powder
- Drop the raw banana pieces gently and cook until soft but not mushy
- Remove, drain the water completely & allow it to cool
- In 2 tblsp of plain flour add sambar powder, garam masala & required salt
- Add water little by little to make a medium consistency batter (like baji batter)
- Dip the cooked raw banana pieces in the batter and roll it in bread crumbs or crushed corn flakes
- Heat the oil for deep frying and gently drop the nuggets in the oil
- Fry it to nice golden brown
- Serve with ketchup
- Raw banana is rich in Potassium and Vitamins like A and C
- Potassium helps reduce risk of blood pressure
- It is high in dietary fiber & low in sugar
- Cooked raw banana is very good for diabetes, as it contains complex carbohydrate that is slowly released over time
- Per serving (4 pieces) = 215 calories approximately
